USA produces around 1 lakh Engineers per year for a $ 16 Trillion Economy.
India produces 15 lakhs Engineers for a $ 2 Trillion Economy.
The earlier mass recruiting sector was Manufacturing. It used to recruit from the core branches like Electrical Mechanical, Civil etc. But, Manufacturing is relatively stagnant at 17% of the GDP. So the core branch placements have become very difficult.

@Akshay BHARDWAJ Entrepreneurship is not for one… You are a PHP Developer with 4 years experience… You can easily move up the value chain and train couple of IT Engineers with the practical skills needed for Web Development in the job market … Each one who is THINKING has to do his part…
Somnath Dey :
you rightly said “Entrepreneurship” is the key and also popped a question if a mechanical engineer could design a frame (to provide some reference to the context). In the similar context, if they have no idea of what they studied, then how could they innovate and become Entrepreneurs/run an organization?
I believe diversified skill-building programs (including Entrepreneurship) implemented on large scale would be one of the major differentiators

very aptly said. Thank you for sharing. Every newspaper should talk everyday not only on Sundays & every TV channels should talk everyday not only on Saturday about enterprenuership & their stories. From all sectors. I am again saying to create awareness of it at home over a cup of tea & at dining table discussion should be about that not about package. There has to be even a story of failures & it’s learning as well in Media. Failed enterprenuers also should get platform to share their stories . If we are able to do this then situation will change. Let me give you an example how many success stories of a Good Vechicle service centre ever talked about? How many success stories of good paintaing contractors are talked about? How many success stories of Good trading companies are talked about? Because either we talk about someone who is doing great Wada Pav , Tea or some app or some tech company or some online so called e- business. GIVE A THOUGHT,
Thank you for reading & sharing

There is a solution to it …. Companies are mainly afraid to try some begginer as the quality of engineers is not that good but there is a possibility tht he/she may be a great learner …. Solution is hire freshers on no salary just give them accomodation or give tht salary that he/she can pay rents or even don’t pay anything try them for few months atleast and decide after that if they are profitable for your company or not if yes hire them atleast they should have a proper chance. That is not their mistake tht they are not quality engineers , institutions/ regulatory authorities are also responsible for this scenario.
