Superstar actress Kangana Ranaut who got the best actress award for the film Tanu Weds Manu Returns by The Honourable past president Mr Pranab Mukherjee. After ‘Simran’ movie Kangana Ranaut will be back in film ‘Manikarnika’ based on the history of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi. The film Manikarnika will release in August 2018. This film is directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi (KRISH). Manikarnika is the based on the revolt of 1857.
In 1856, Dalhousie introduced Grease Cartridges in India. On 29th March 1857, Mangal Pandey denied the use of Grease Cartridges and revolted to Barrackpore Chhawani (Bengal). On 8th April 1857, Mangal Pandey was hanged to death. He was the 34th native infantry soldier. After his death Revolt started from Meerut Cant on 10th may 1857.

‘Rani Laxmibai’ as ‘Kangana Ranaut’, ‘Jisshu Sengupta’ as ‘Gangadhar Rao’, ‘Atul Kulkarni’ as ‘Tantia Tope’, ‘Suresh Oberoi’ as ‘Bajirao the second’, ‘Sonu Sood’ as ‘Sadashiv’ and ‘Nihar Pandya’ as ‘Nana Saheb’ are in the film, the later is also famous in history by his name ‘Dhondu Pant’.
In this movie, Manikarnika is fighting with the English soldiers strongly until the end of her life. She never lost to the English in her lifetime. But the revolt of 1857 was a failure due to lack of skilful leadership, lack of arms and weapons and lack of transportation and communication. Nature of this revolt was Sepoy Mutiny.
After the revolt on November 1st, 1958 Queen’s proclamation was read at a grand darbar of Allahabad. The proclamation stated that the Queen has assumed the government of India and also the future policy of British Crown was declared.
